The case for boring components

The components I’m proudest of are the ones nobody talks about. Buttons, inputs and menus that behave the same everywhere.

Boring is a feature. It means people stop thinking about the interface and start thinking about their work.

Where the craft goes

The craft moves into states: focus rings, loading, disabled, errors, long text. That’s where most products quietly fall apart.

Save the expressive moments for the places that deserve them, like onboarding, empty states and celebrations.
